Project Description:
Tooles was selected to provide services for the construction of the Campbell Memorial Terrace at Dequindre Cut in Detroit.
The project was located in the Dequindre Cut pathway, just north of Lafayette and west of Orleans Street in Detroit, Michigan. The scope of the overall project generally consisted of the construction of a terraced seating area with raised concrete stage and landscaped seating areas. The terraced seating area included poured in place concrete seatwalls with paving and landscape materials between the walls. Concrete steps and ramps included stainless steel handrails. Landscaping and construction of new catch basins and associated storm lines to connect to the existing DWSD system were also part of the scope. In addition, a new canopy of 900 SF was constructed over the raised concrete stage area and attached to the existing abutment. Repair of spalling or damaged concrete on the abutment was carried out as needed to attach the new structure. The canopy consisted of an uninsulated EDPM clad roof that curved in both plan and elevation.
