Project Description:
Tooles Contracting Group was selected as Construction Manager to oversee the construction of this exciting and new children’s playground located on the Detroit River. Awarded late in the construction season, the project was completed in 21 days. From site remediation to contaminated soil, accelerating the concrete with admixtures, to laying down the colored rubber play surface material, everything was rushed to beat the cold weather. Tooles worked hand-in-hand with the Detroit RiverFront Conservancy, Hines Interest, the DNR, KaBOOM!, the City of Detroit, and numerous companies’ volunteers to ensure that this project was completed on time.
The KaBOOM! Playscape project consisted of remediation of contaminated soils per the Michigan Due Care Plan, earthwork, underground utilities, working around major underground obstructions, sprinklers, foundations, concrete slab-on-grade, ornamental fencing, hydroseeding, poured colored rubber materials, landscaping, and working with and organizing the numerous volunteers to install the playgroup equipment.
