Project Description:
Tooles Contracting Group completed this project in less than 30 days on a fast-track schedule from site excavation to final completion. Several artistic elements were added to the project including a custom-made bike rack, planter boxes and sitting areas. Tooles was also responsible for various value engineering alternatives that led to significant cost savings.
The project consisted of site development and improvements for the Lafayette Urban Garden. Work included earth work, site balancing, public and private utility connections, grading, concrete flatwork and steps, steel railings, steel reinforced concrete bases, footing and foundations, gabion curbs and benches, fences, bike rack and gates, drainage systems and structures, electrical services and distribution systems, site lighting, lay-out engineering of lines, points, and grades, landscape and plantings, galvanized planter boxes, Grass Pave 2 systems, top soil and planter box soil mixes and fills, site irrigation systems, mulch walkways and beds, landscape fabrics, concrete pavers, structures, trellises, and pipe-slated benches.
This work was completed utilizing a strict logistical plan, which was necessitated by the fact that the project site was located in downtown Detroit. Tooles Contracting Group prepared detailed work plans for material deliveries, debris removal, equipment utilization, staging areas, vehicle drive-off matting/temporary roads which were all important for public SAFETY.
