Project Description:
Tooles provided Design-Build services for the completion of three projects as part of the DTE FGD upgrades. The first project included hoisting and connecting over 5,000 linear feet of limestone and gypsum bulk handling system components. The system runs through the entire DTE Energy, Monroe Power Plant and consisted of over 150 30 ft. sections that were connected and hoisted over 100 feet in the air.
Lastly, Tooles provided general contracting services for the design, fabrication, and installation of the metal siding system for the exterior walls which included structural steel. The project consisted of approximately 300,000 square feet of siding, 147 pedestrian doors, and 17 roll-up doors. We also installed modular metal wall panels for interior walls complete with ceilings, doors, and windows and built the fire-rated walls for four different electrical/control rooms.
Project Highlights
There were many logistical challenges that had to be addressed to successfully complete this project. One major challenge was the active railroad that ran directly through the middle of the construction site. Several times a day our construction teams had to stop work to allow for trains to travel through the site. As a result, our crews implemented large scale communications and coordination plans to ensure SAFETY while on site.
